Chester is more than a city …

This summer Chester invites to explore this amazing city for yourself. Whether you believe it or not, but Chester is a fascinating area to visit with many of your truly loved family members this August.

Come along to Chester Unlocked, a unique heritage project that offers us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich history of Chester.

This summer, come find Chester transformed into a free city-wide museum, and learn about Chester's long history through the many buildings and treasures that have survived the cities tumultuous past. Back dropping to a 2000 year old mystery quest where you can explore every nook and cranny of the city.

Also get involved in the many fringe events popping up across the city, from Roman wine tasting, to Victorian fashion shows and family-friendly arts and crafts activities.

A story waiting to be unlocked!

If that’s not enough, discover Chester even more were the battle between King Aethelfrith's Northumbrian army and the Welsh at Chester in 616AD changed the history of the area for ever. The last major battle of the English Civil War will be fought again in Chester… three hundred and seventy years after the combatants left a blood-stained field.

On August Bank Holiday weekend, two thousand Royalist and Parliamentarian troops will re-enact the historic engagement of Rowton Moor, which saw Charles I fail in his attempt to lift the siege of Chester. To be staged on the afternoons of August 30th and 31st at the Roodee, being the UK’s biggest re-enactment of the year.

Coming to August this bank holiday!

Now let’s leave the history behind (excuse the pun) and get with the present.

Cheshire, once again, will be the venue for CarFest North 2015, with the event taking place from 31st July - 2nd August 2015. A dream of cars, music, food and masses of family fun - conjured up by Chris Evans and brought to life in Cheshire and Hampshire.

The venue brings even more excitement to the experience of watching some of the world's greatest cars charging round a track - whilst also offering some fantastic spaces for dancing to live music, chilling out in front of the arena and having a fun, family weekend.

Spoil your little this month with the range of entertainment on offer from morning until night and boy have they got a lot of play to pack into this weekend!
